How Britney Spears Plans To Move Forward Following Father’s Suspension As Conservator

Britney Spears is taking some time for a little self-love.

Last week, the 39-year-old popstar had a big win in her conservatorship case – the judge ruled to suspend her father, Jamie Spears, as conservator of her estate.

Britney has previously described her conservatorship as “cruel” and “abusive,” saying that it has left her “traumatized.” In her explosive testimony in court last June, she claimed that she “never had a say” in what goes on in her life, that her father controlled every aspect of it – from her finances, career, and even her well-being and reproductive decisions.

While her conservatorship is yet to be terminated (Certified Public Accountant John Zabel has been appointed as temporary successor), the judge’s ruling on Wednesday (September 29) heralds the first time Britney won’t be under her father’s oversight since the establishment of her conservatorship in 2008.

Right now, Britney and fiancé Sam Asghari are enjoying some R&R on an island in the Pacific – sources say “she wanted to take the stress off” and left for her getaway ahead of the hearing. However, the engaged couple have clearly been keeping up with the developments, celebrating the judge’s decision on social media hours after it was announced.

Over the weekend, Britney shared some insight into her plans moving forward following what is perhaps the biggest change in her life in 13 years – with the first part focused on “healing” and “self love.”

Sharing a photo of a tree growing through a skylight on Instagram, she wrote, “Although there is change and things to celebrate in my life, I still have a lot of healing to do 🌳 !!!”

“Thankfully I have a good support system and am taking time to understand it’s ok to slow down and breathe 🧘‍♀️ !!!!!” she continued. “Only through self love I can pray … love … and support others in return !!!!”

Her post has since received an outpouring of messages of love and support from her fans in the comments.

The “Baby One More Time Singer” has been giving fans glimpses into their tropical vacation, sharing photos and videos from their sunny paradise on Instagram and fans have noted how much happier she seemed to be.

In one since-deleted post, she shared a clip of a boat ride where Sam said, “Baby, we bought you an island. We’re pulling to it right now.”

“Aw, you shouldn’t have,” Britney replies, quoting an iconic line from her “Oops! I Did It Again” music video.  The couple could be heard giggling together after.

“Having the time of my life here 😉😉😉😉😉 !!!!!” she wrote in the caption.

The next court date for Britney’s case is scheduled on November 12, which her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart says “will be about the termination of the entire conservatorship.”
