It’s official: Adele is back!

Adele announced the exciting news on Instagram on Tuesday (October 5) by dropping a teaser of her upcoming single “Easy On Me.”

Along with the with the black-and-white clip, which is likely from the track’s music video, she also revealed the song’s release date in the captions: October 15.

For weeks, fans have been speculating that the songstress was about to make her musical comeback – she’s been spotted outside recording studios over the past few months as well as more recent reports also came out that she was shooting a music video. The buzz only got louder when mysterious billboards with nothing but the number “30” began popping up in various cities around the globe last week.

For those who aren’t familiar, Adele’s albums have so far followed a theme, which appear to denote her age which most of her tracks revolve around – she dropped 19 in 2008, 21 in 2011, and 25 in 2015 – and a lot has happened in her life when she turned 30, including splitting from ex-husband Simon Konecki.

On Monday (October 4), her Instagram and Twitter profile photos got an update – which appear to match the “30” billboards. Her website also got a similar update with a “sign up” link for her newsletter. Pretty soon, “Adele Is Back” was trending on Twitter.

Adele has so far only confirmed the release date of her comeback single “Easy On Me” – October 15. However, fans are already theorizing that her album release will follow soon, with one theory suggesting it may have something to do with Taylor Swift moving up the release of the highly-anticipated re-recording of Red (Taylor’s Version).

On Thursday (September 30), Taylor went on Twitter to announce that Red (Taylor’s Verion), which was originally scheduled to drop on November 19th, now has an earlier release date.

“Got some news that I think you’re gonna like – My version of Red will be out a week earlier than scheduled (including the 4 disc vinyl) on November 12th ! Can’t wait to celebrate the 13th with you and our new/old autumn heartbreak album🧣😍 🎥 🎥,” she wrote.

One Twitter user speculates that the earlier release is a possible herald of another big release coming. “taylor swift announced adele’s comeback before adele herself,” the fan tweeted.

Another theorized that the two music powerhouses may even be coordinating their release dates. “TAYLOR IS MOVING RED (TV) CAUSE ADELE IS GONNA DROP THE 19th! THAT MEANS TAYLOR AND ADELE MUST HAVE TALKED SO THAT ADELE COULD TELL TAYLOR HER RELEASE DATE AND TAYLOR COULD HAVE TIME TO MOVE IT! TAYDELE IS ALIVE AND WELL!!! BOTH MY QUEENS GOING #1 A WEEK APART!!!” the person wrote.

Right now, it’s all speculation. Adele is still to officially announce her fourth album. But it obviously hasn’t taken away the anticipation from Adele’s upcoming return to music after six years.
