A charity has said “No, thanks” to Jamie Lynn Spears.
Last week, Jamie Lynn announced the title of her upcoming memoir and shared that she had finished writing it. She also said that part of the proceeds from the sales of her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” will be going to This Is My Brave, a mental illness charity. She said this about donating a portion of her proceeds:
“I know how scary it can be to share personal struggles, especially if you don’t feel you have the support or a safe space to do so, and they are doing amazing weird to support and encourage people as they bravely share their experiences.”
However, This Is My Brave has stated that they will not be accepting the donation form Britney Spears’ younger sister. Following much backlash, This Is My Brave posted this on their Instagram:
“This Is My Brave was recently recommended to be a beneficiary organization for the proceeds from @jamielynnspears’ upcoming book.
We have made the decision to decline the offer of receiving proceeds from the book sales.”
This Is My Brave is dedicated to helping others openly share their experiences with mental illness.
During the announcement of her memoir earlier this month, Jamie Lynn said:
“I felt a strong conviction to share my story, but there was a lot of personal work and healing that had to happen before I could share my truth the proper way. I’ve spent my whole life believing that I had to pretend to be perfect, even when I wasn’t, so for the first time I am opening up about my own mental health, because this process challenged me to have to be painfully honest with myself, and face a lot of hard things, that I normally would have just glossed right over, like I was taught to.”
The former Disney star went on to say:
“[I still have] ALOT of learning to do, but I feel like finishing this book gave me closure on this ’30 year long’ chapter of my life, and hopefully helps anyone else out there who forgot their worth, lost their voice, or is trying to break an unhealthy cycle in their life.”
Jamie Lynn said that she began to write her memoir after the “life-changing accident” of her daughter Maddie in 2017. The book is expected to tackle her experience as part of a famous famous family and becoming a teen mom.
A day after Jamie Lynn revealed her memoir’s title, Britney took to Instagram, to reveal that she herself is thinking of releasing a book, and asked fans for suggestions for a title:
“Also great news… I’m thinking of releasing a book next year but I’m having issues coming up with a title so maybe my fans could help!!!! Option #1… ’S—t, I really don’t know’. Option #2… ‘I really care what people think.’

This Is My Brave will be released in January 2022.
