Jamie Lynn Spears is baring her soul in her upcoming new memoir — and she’s not afraid to speak her truth.

One of the subjects that Jamie Lynn opens up about in her book is her teenage pregnancy. In an excerpt TMZ obtained, Britney’s 30-year-old younger sister revealed that when she became pregnant at 16 years old, her parents Jamie and Lynne wanted her to get an abortion.

She stated that her dad and mom “came to my room trying to convince me that having a baby at this point in my life was a terrible idea.”

Jamie Lynn went into more detail about what her parents were saying to her then to try and convince her:

“[They said] ‘It will kill your career. You are just too young. You don’t know what you’re doing. There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem… I know a doctor.’

Everyone around me just wanted to make this ‘issue’ disappear… everyone was certain that rumination would be the best course of action.”

When she decided not to heed their word and chose to keep her baby. Jamie Lynn said that Jamie was “slinging words and tossing insults.” He even then suggested that she give up her baby for adoption.

Jamie Lynn also stated that Jamie and Lynne would not allow her to tell Britney about her pregnancy. She shared that it still hurts her to this day that her older sister was not able to be there for her then because she couldn’t tell her:

“I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able to help me in my most vulnerable time…

To this day, the hurt of not being able to tell my sister myself still lingers.”

Jamie Lynn’s memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” is available for preorder. The book will be released in January 2022.
