Joe Keery has shared his first public remarks regarding his split from longtime girlfriend Maika Monroe.
The 32-year-old actor, known for his role in the hit series “Stranger Things,” had been romantically involved with Maika, 31, since 2017. However, after five years together, the couple called it quits. Their last public outing together was in March 2022, and the exact timing of their breakup remains unspecified.
In the wake of their separation, Maika has moved on, finding companionship with Dalton Gomez, a familiar name from the world of pop culture, as he was previously linked to none other than Ariana Grande.
During a discussion about his work on the FX series “Fargo,” Joe candidly addressed navigating life post-breakup, particularly as he embarked on filming in Canada.
Joe reflected in an interview with Variety. “It’s a weird job, being an actor,. You fly to a random place, move your whole life and that is basically your new life for the next six months.”
He continued, shedding light on the personal challenges he faced, stating, “I had also gone through a big breakup, right as I was leaving Rome, so I was really isolated and focused on my work. My social life pretty much revolved around the show; my work life revolved around the show. We weren’t really leaving due to COVID-19.”
Joe’s honesty offers a glimpse into the reality of navigating personal upheavals in the midst of a demanding career. Despite the challenges, he remained dedicated to his craft, finding solace and focus in his work, especially amidst the backdrop of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In sharing his experience, Joe underscores the complexities of life as a performer, where the line between personal and professional can blur, and where one’s craft can provide both refuge and purpose during turbulent times.
