Growing up in the spotlight isn’t easy – something Justin Bieber knows all too well. And he’s reflecting on past mistakes and how far he’s come since his teenaged years.

Over the weekend, Justin shared a photo of him in handcuffs and escorted by police officers, captioned: “7 years ago today I was arrested, not my finest hour. Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead [sic], misunderstood and angry at god. I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami.”

16-year-old Justin was arrested back in January 23, 2014 for drag racing in a yellow Lamborghini in Miami, Florida, which got a little more complicated when he failed a sobriety test – he was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving and avoided jailtime. He was also required to make a charitable donation and take anger management courses.

“All this to say God has brought me a long way,” he continued. “From then til now I do realize something. God was as close to me then as he is right now. My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you. Don’t allow shame to ruin your ‘today’ let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be.”

He concluded his post with a message for his fans. “LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART.”

Justin’s candid post got a lot of love and support from friends and fans.

His manager, Scooter Braun wrote, “Proud of you.”

Tom Brady also added, “We live and learn.”

Usher commented, “AMEN” along with a prayer hands emoji.

2Chainz, Jaden Smith, Patrick Schwarzenegger and more also left supportive comments.
