Since he broke out into the music scene, Justin Bieber has been a force to be reckoned with. He’s a massive pop superstar all over the globe. So it’s no wonder that everyone is interested in all aspects of his life: Career, love, lifestyle… even religion.

The 26-year-old pop phenomenon is known for being open and vocal about his faith over the years. It’s not surprising to see reports and news about his religious life and choices. But of course, not all the reports and news we read about are real.

And Justin himself has spoken out to debunk one of them!

Recently making the rounds on news outlets was that Justin was going to transition into becoming a minister. Apparently, all that’s been majorly misreported. And Justin is setting the record straight.

Taking to social media, he addressed this news on his Instagram Stories, writing in all caps:

“I’M NOT STUDYING TO BE A MINISTER OF ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THAT. NO DESIRE FOR THAT THIS IS FAKE NEWS.”

In the same post, Justin also distanced himself from Hillsong, a church he’s long been affiliated with because of his highly-publicized friendship with Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz. He’s also had public relationship with the church and other celebrities affiliated with the church. But at the end of his all-caps post on Instagram Stories, Justin clearly stated:

“AND BTW HILLSONG IS NOT MY CHURCH. FOR CLARITY I AM A PART OF CHURCHOME.”

There it is.

Churchome is based on the West Coast and is a nondenominational ministry which preaches remote fellowship. Like Hillsong, Churchome also has many celebrity congregants. Interestingly, it’s being reported that these celebrity congregants are actually known to attend Hillsong Church services when they are on the East Coast. Hmm?

However, Justin further expounded on his religious choices, sharing:

“Church is not a place. We are the church. We don’t need a building to connect with God. God is with us wherever we are.”

Oh, and about that friendship Justin had with Carl Lentz? Well, reports say that that friendship ended back in 2018. So Justin didn’t have a close relationship anymore with him when the scandal of Carl cheating on his wife broke out last year.
