Kaley Cuoco is divorcing Karl Cook, her husband of three years.
It’s been reported that the 35-year-old Flight Attendant actress filed for divorce from Karl on Friday (September 3) at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The divorce filing comes on the same day that Kaley and Karl announced that they were separating.
The pair made their separation public via a joint statement. Released via People, the statement read as follows:
“Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.
We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger of animosity, quite the contrary.”
Kaley and Karl went on to share that the decision to split was one they made together:
“We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details of commenting further.”
The erstwhile couple were together for five years, and married for three. They began dating back in 2016, and officially got engaged in November 2017 on Kaley’s birthday. They exchanged vows in front of family and friends near San Diego, California, on June 30, 2018.
Kaley and Karl recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary, with Kaley posting a sweet message for Karl on Instagram. She wrote back in June:
“NY, June 30th, 2016 is the year we met. 2 years to the day before we got married and now 3 years married! Why have you stayed married to me for so long?! I’m sincerely impressed @mrtankcook lol I love you oh so much you have no idea… happy anniversary!!!”
Karl then took to his own Instagram the following day with this sweet message for Kaley:
“I agree @kaleycuoco I am just as amazed it’s been three years, feel like just a flash. I love you so much and I can’t wait for a million more years!!”
A source has since opened up to People about the “shocking” split. Here’s what they had to say:
“In the beginning of the summer, Kaley seemed very happy with Karl. There were affectionate and seemed great.
The split seems very sudden. It’s pretty shocking.”
