New relationship status, new name?

Amidst his divorce proceedings with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, Kanye West has made another huge change — his name.

The rapper and music mogul has made a move to change his legal name from “Kanye Omari West” to just the simple “Ye.” He filed for a name change back in August 24, and cited “personal reasons” for doing so. Now, it has just been reported that this move has been approved by the legal system!

According to new court documents, a judge has signed off on the new legal name of Kanye. Ye will no longer have a middle name of last name either. From here on, he will now just legally go by the two-letter name, “Ye.”

Ye is a name that has always been very much associated with the star. He’s often already been referred to by that name, and he released an album in 2018 with the same title. That same year came the declaration of himself as “the being formally known as Kanye West” on Twitter, adding:

“I am YE.”

Now, legally, he is.

But wait, there’s more.

Hand in hand with the name change, Ye also debuted a new haircut. Taking to Instagram, he posted a photo of the back of his head, showing off a brand new haircut with an incredibly complex pattern. He captioned the picture with the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan symbol. As to what this hair style means, we’ll have to wait to find out.

To top it all off, Ye then went out and about wearing not one but two different prosthetic masks. He was spotted wearing a pale bluish-green mask on Sunday, and then a puzzling white mask on Monday.

New life, new name, new hair, new face. That’s Ye.
