Kim Kardashian is once again opening up about her split from Kanye West on Thursday’s Part 1 of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians reunion, where host Anderson Cooper asked her a question many fans have probably been wondering about: “Why did your marriage not work?”
“I honestly don’t think I would even say it here on TV, but it was not like, one specific thing that happened on either part,” the KKW Beauty mogul responded. “I think it was just a general difference of opinions on a few things that led to this decision. And like, in no way would I want someone to think that I didn’t give it my all, or not really try. You know, we have four kids. There’s nothing that I think parents would want more than to see, or even kids want more, than to see their parents together. I grew up and I lived that myself.”
Kim and Kanye were together for almost a decade – they began dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014 – and share four kids together. Despite their union being the reality star’s third marriage – she was previously married to Damon Thomas, then later Kris Humphries – she says their union was the first time she was in a “real marriage.”
“My marriage with Kanye and my kids was, is so real and lots of love and that to me was like my first real marriage,” she shared.
In February, Kim filed for divorce from Ye after nearly seven years of marriage, but she says she and Ye now have an “amazing co-parenting relationship.”
“I respect him so much and you know, that was my friend first, first and foremost, for a long time, so I can’t see that going away,” she said. “I will forever be Kanye’s biggest fan. He’s the father of my kids, Kanye will always be family.”
Earlier this month, Kanye celebrated his 44th birthday, during which Kim posted a birthday tribute declaring she will love the rapper “for life.” On the same occasion, Kanye also made headlines about possibly having moved on from their marriage when photos of him and Irina Shayk vacationing in France went viral.
What about the status of Kim’s love life? Rumors have been swirling of a possible new romance linking her to CNN’s Van Jones as well as Maluma.
“No, I’m not dating either one – not Van Jones, not Maluma,” Kim said.
However, she confirmed she does know them. “Van texted me and was like, ‘This rumor has gotten me so many dates and I’m so grateful,'” Kim shared. As for Maluma, “I’ve known him, I’ve seen him a few times, always in Miami, such a nice guy. So nice.”
Kim has previously opened up about “waking up at 40 and realizing I just want total happiness” in KUWTK’s series finale.
“Obviously, complete bliss is not a full reality, but if I can have it more, a majority of the time, that’s all I wanna do,” she notes. “Wherever that takes me, I just want my pure happiness. That’s what I’m working on, figuring out how to get there.”
And, during the reunion, Andy asked if there’s a possibility of Kim dating a non-celebrity.
“Yeah, absolutely. Just someone that I think would understand what this life is about, though,” she replied. “But I think what I was looking for and who I was, you know years ago is completely different than who I am today and I value privacy. And I just want something that’s like, really real.”
