Kit Harington is getting candid about life as a new dad – and the surprises he’s encountered along the way.

The Game Of Thrones actor and his wife, Rose Leslie, are new parents to a baby boy, whom they welcomed earlier this year.

Opening up about life as a new dad in a recent interview with Access Hollywood, he shares a realization that hit him with the arrival of their little bundle of joy.

“They tell you and they don’t tell you [about fatherhood]. Everyone goes, ‘Look, it’s big, what you’re about to go through is big.’ You have no way of knowing that until it happens,” he said. “Then, what surprises you is you go, ‘Oh, this goes on forever.’ Like, you don’t get a break from it.”

Not to say that Kit isn’t loving being a dad. Back in February, Kit’s rep confirmed that he and Rose have welcomed a baby boy, adding that they’re both “very very happy.”

During his interview, Kit also went on to explain how raising a child has helped him and Rose become closer.

“Every day, I wake up and I look after this little human and now we’re part of a unit together,” he shared. “I think the thing that surprises me most about fatherhood is you are now a unit, the three of you, and that’s a whole new dynamic you need to find — and pretty much find every day as he grows and changes. It’s a beautiful thing, it really is.”

Kit and Rose fell in love on the set of Game Of Thrones, where they starred alongside each other from 2012-2014, and tied the knot in 2018. In September 2020, Rose revealed that they were expecting their first child together, debuting her baby bump on the cover of the U.K.’s Make magazine and in February, she was photographed with her newborn son in a carrier as she and Kit strolled hand-in-hand around London.

In another interview with Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle show, Kit also opened up about his biggest takeaway amid the pandemic.

“What we were gifted with this was forced time together. And because of that, we ended up having a baby,” he told the host.

“That’s the major thing that came out of the pandemic for me was becoming a father,” he added. “I had a quite profound and amazing experience during this last year and a half.”
