Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were among the hottest Young Hollywood couples of their time. Their on-screen tandem in the Twilight films had fans swooning, and off-screen, their real-life relationship had everyone squeeing as well. Robsten was a thing, and it was no doubt epic.
The film franchise eventually ended and so did their real-life relationship in a very public and controversial manner. Since then, they’ve barely talked about each other in interviews.
But here’s a treat for all Robsten and Twilight fans — Kristen has just made a rare comment about her erstwhile flame and their movie series!
In a new profile for the New Yorker, she was asked about the casting process for the role of Edward in the Twilight films after she herself was cast as Bella. The profile noted that to cast Edward, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke had actors come to her house in order to read opposite Kristen and make out with her. And Kristen stated:
“It was so clear who worked. I was literally just, like…”
She then proceeded to imitate the act of swooning!
She went on to say that Rob had an “intellectual approach that was combined with ‘I don’t give a f—k about this, but I’m going to make this sing.’ And I was like, ‘Ugh, same.’
And whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that’s what it needed, and that’s what anybody playing those parts needed to feel.”
What a treat to have her speak about Rob!
Two years ago, Kristen opened up about Rob and their relationship. In an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, she said that it was “weird” being honest now about all of it because she was never really allowed to “say what happened” between her and Rob. She added:
“Because I was so self-conscious about seeming like an attention-seeker.
We were together for years, that was my first [love]. He’s the best.”
She was then asked if she would have married him if he had proposed back in the day, to which Kristen answered:
“I don’t know. I’m not a super duper traditionalist, but at the same time… every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never really been the most casual person.”
And when asked if there relationship was fake for publicity, Kristen declared:
“You really think at this point, after all these years, that’s how I live my life?”
