Lil Nas X isn’t letting negativity cramp his style.

The 22-year-old Grammy-winning musician has been getting some harsh reactions over how he chose to announce major news about his music.

On Thursday, he took to Instagram to share that his debut album is about to drop this month. He revealed the happy news by posting a series of hilarious “baby bump” reveal snaps. Along with the photos, he wrote:

“SURPRISE! I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO’ is due September 17, 2021.”

The “pregnancy” photos had him cradling a “baby bump”, holding flowers and wearing a flower crown.

The funny post garnered a lot of attention — and not all of it positive. Some people were not happy with the way he chose to make his announcement. But Lil Nas X took it all in stride.

When one user wrote on Twitter about being tired of Lil Nas X’s antics and telling him he was ugly, Lil Nas X chose to jokingly respond with:

“You really on here calling a young mother to be ugly?”

Another user tweeted about how the entertainer goes from “one outlandish antic to the next,” and piled on that by adding, “You will never see a while, Asian, Hispanic, or Arab equivalent to him in the entertainment industry” for the reason that they wouldn’t “tolerate” this type of behavior. To this, Lil Nas X simply stated:

“One day y’all will learn I am not a representation of anyone but Lil Nas X.”

Finally, after replying to many negative comments, Lil HAs X finally wrote on Twitter:

“Let me get offline, all of this negative energy is not good for the baby.”

Following his “pregnancy” reveal, Lil Nas X opened up to People about the inspiration for his post. He stated that he was inspired to do the shoot because of Megan thee Stallion’s verse on his song “Dolla Sign Slime”:

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing,’ so I immediately called my stylist. He was like, ‘Wow, this all comes together. Your album. Your baby.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, this is my baby, huh?’

As a joke, she was like, ‘Yeah, you should do a pregnancy shoot.’ I was like, ‘You know what? That’s actually brilliant. So now we have this entire thing coming out, and it’s going to be amazing.”
