Is Riverdale coming to an end?

The hit CW show, based on the longstanding and iconic Archie Comics, is currently airing its sixth season and its 100th episode is right around the corner. Given how long the series has been on the air, many fans have been wondering when it will wrap up its run.

Well, during an Instagram Live on Tuesday (November 30), Riverdale star Lili Reinhart touched on the possibility of when the show might end!

Lili, who plays Betty Cooper on the series, made a comment about the end of Riverdale’s run to the almost 30,000 people watching live — and her words have gotten people talking!

The actress initially stated:

“This is not the last season of Riverdale — well, it could be. I down know. We’re hoping for a season seven.”

And then she went on to add this in a confidential whisper:

“And then that will prob-probably be the last one.

You didn’t hear it from me. All 28,000 of you!”

Whoa.

Of course to be clear this is in no way any confirmation that Riverdale will end with Season 7 — neither is it a confirmation of Season 7! The show has so far just aired three episodes for Season 6. The CW typically announces pick-ups and renewals beginning January and February, so we’ll wait and see then what the series’ fate will be!

Lili also addressed the fact that the show has become somewhat chaotic and even off-the-rails, saying:

‘We’re very aware that our show is off-the-handle crazy, and that’s the point. I think a lot of people don’t understand that…

Our show is not real life, it’s a crazy world and it’s a made-up world, and you’re watching these characters go through these what-the-f*** moment all the time.”
