All systems are a go for the 2023 Met Gala!
The annual benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will be taking place on May 1, 2023. And the theme and co-chairs for this year’s gala have been revealed.
This year’s event will be honoring Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 85. The accompanying exhibition is called Karle Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty. Via Vogue, this exhibit “pays tribute to the prolific designer, who helmed major fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi, and Chloe.”
On Wednesday (January 18), the co-chairs of the gala were revealed, and they include superstars of screen, stage, and sports.
The Met Gala 2023 co-chairs are as follows:
Michaela Coel
Penelope Cruz
Roger Federer
Dua Lipa
This year will mark one of the few occasions since Anna Wintour began overseeing the event back in the mid-1990s where no fashion designers will be among the co-chairs.
All four co-chairs have attended the fundraiser in recent years.
