The 2026 Actor Awards — formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards — delivered a night that felt both celebratory and transitional. A new name. A new streaming home on Netflix. And a slate of winners that reflected where film and television stand right now.
The biggest headline of the night? Sinners.
Ryan Coogler’s film took home the award for best performance by an ensemble in a motion picture, the ceremony’s top film honor. The cast’s win underscored the movie’s collective strength — a reminder that powerful storytelling doesn’t rest on one performance alone. Still, one standout did take center stage: Michael B. Jordan earned best leading actor for his role in the film, marking another milestone in his long-standing creative partnership with Coogler.
In the leading actress category, Jessie Buckley won for Hamnet, delivering one of the evening’s most respected dramatic victories. Sean Penn secured best supporting actor for One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan earned supporting actress honors for Weapons, rounding out a film slate that leaned into weighty, character-driven storytelling.
On the television side, The Studio won best comedy series ensemble, with Seth Rogen also taking home best actor in a comedy series. In one of the night’s most heartfelt moments, Rogen accepted the award for best actress in a comedy series on behalf of Catherine O’Hara, who died in January. His tribute to his late co-star brought a reflective pause to the ceremony, reminding viewers how closely knit the industry can be.
Drama honors went to The Pitt, which won best ensemble in a drama series. Noah Wyle was named best actor for his performance on the show, while Keri Russell earned best actress in a drama series for The Diplomat, continuing her streak of commanding, politically charged performances.
Limited series categories delivered their own emotional weight. Michelle Williams won for Dying for Sex, and Owen Cooper claimed victory for Adolescence, spotlighting two very different but equally compelling narratives.
Before the live broadcast began, Netflix’s red carpet preshow revealed the winners for best stunt ensemble. Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning triumphed in film, while The Last of Us claimed the television honor — a nod to the physical artistry behind high-stakes storytelling.
Hosted by Kristen Bell at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, the ceremony leaned into its rebranding. Now officially titled The Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA, the show acknowledged its new identity early on, with Bell referencing the change during a musical number in her monologue.
The night also featured the signature “I am an actor” opening montage, including appearances from Teyana Taylor and Michael J. Fox, reaffirming the ceremony’s performer-first ethos.
And then there was Harrison Ford.
Presented the Life Achievement Award by Woody Harrelson, Ford’s recognition felt inevitable. Few careers span decades with the cultural imprint of his. The moment was less about nostalgia and more about endurance — a salute to staying power in an industry that rarely slows down.
The 2026 Actor Awards didn’t just celebrate performances. They marked evolution. A new name. A new platform. And a reminder that at the center of it all are actors — still telling stories, still taking risks, still stepping up to the mic and saying, simply, “I am an actor.”
