Awards season has officially entered its most actor-forward phase. The nominations for the 2026 SAG Awards, now rebranded as the Actor Awards, have been revealed, and the lineup reflects a year defined by ambitious performances, bold storytelling, and industry resilience.

Leading the film side of the nominations is One Battle After Another, which scored an impressive seven nominations, including a coveted nod for Best Stunt Ensemble. The recognition places the film firmly at the center of this year’s awards conversation. Close behind is Sinners, earning five nominations, once again including a stunt ensemble mention. Meanwhile, Frankenstein, Hamnet, and Marty Supreme followed with three nominations each, though Frankenstein stood out as the only one of the trio to land a stunt nod.

All five films—Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners—are competing for the Actor Awards’ top honor: Best Cast, the ceremony’s most prestigious film category and often a strong indicator of Oscar momentum.

On the television side, the field is just as competitive. The Studio leads with five nominations, while Adolescence and The White Lotus trail closely behind with four nods each. Notably, none of the top television nominees received stunt ensemble nominations this year, signaling a performance-driven focus across categories.

The nominees for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series include Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, and The Studio. Meanwhile, the Drama Series Ensemble category features The Diplomat, Landman, The Pitt, Severance, and The White Lotus, reinforcing the dominance of prestige storytelling across platforms.

This year’s nominations were announced via livestream by Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie and Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James, with the broadcast airing on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The awards are presented by SAG-AFTRA, underscoring the ceremony’s continued commitment to honoring performers as judged by their peers.

In addition to the competitive categories, Harrison Ford will receive this year’s Life Achievement Award, a fitting honor for one of Hollywood’s most enduring and influential figures.

The ceremony also marks a significant branding evolution. The SAG Awards officially rebranded as the Actor Awards in November, a change explained by showrunner Jon Brockett and SAG-AFTRA Awards Committee chair JoBeth Williams.

“Since the show started over 30 years ago, our iconic statuette has always been called The Actor, and simply evolving the show’s name to align with the award itself made obvious sense,” they said. “We wanted to provide clearer recognition in terms of what the show is about for our domestic and global audiences — we honor actors in film and television. Laser-focusing the name on those two things became the clearest and most straightforward path for this new chapter of the show.”

James jokingly acknowledged the shift ahead of the announcement, quipping, “Like thousands of actors, they’ve changed the name.”

This year’s nominations also arrive on a somber anniversary. They were announced one year after the Palisades and Eaton fires devastated parts of Los Angeles. Reflecting on the moment, SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin shared, “So many of us were affected, but I’m so proud of our industry for coming together at this difficult time.”

Last year, Conclave won Best Cast, while Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) and Demi Moore (The Substance) took home Best Actor and Actress honors. Kieran Culkin and Zoe Saldaña won the supporting categories, later repeating those wins at the Oscars. On television, Shogun claimed Best Drama Ensemble, while Only Murders in the Building won Best Comedy Ensemble.

The 2026 Actor Awards will stream live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 1.
