Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have reportedly gone their separate ways after nearly three years as a couple.

According to a source, the pair quietly ended their relationship several months ago, choosing to keep the split private while continuing to support one another professionally and personally.

“It’s amicable, they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways,” the source says. “They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months.”

The reported breakup marks the end of a relationship that first drew widespread attention in 2023 when Grande and Slater met while filming the two-part Wicked adaptation. Grande stars as Glinda, while Slater portrays Boq, a key character in the beloved musical fantasy.

While the relationship became one of the most talked-about celebrity romances in recent years, both stars largely kept their personal lives out of the spotlight. Their public appearances together were relatively limited, though they occasionally offered glimpses of their connection through social media posts, red carpet appearances, and public support for each other’s work.

The pair officially confirmed their romance in November 2024 when they appeared together on Instagram, following months of speculation. Since then, they attended multiple events tied to Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good, becoming one of Hollywood’s most closely watched couples as excitement surrounding the blockbuster musical franchise continued to build.

Despite the reported split, sources indicate there is no bad blood between them.

The timing comes as Grande enters a particularly busy chapter in her career. The Grammy-winning singer recently launched her highly anticipated Eternal Sunshine tour on June 6 and is preparing for the release of her next album, Petal, arriving July 31. According to the source, the singer is focused on work and is “doing great” as she navigates this new phase.

Throughout their relationship, both stars frequently championed one another’s creative projects.

Last November, Slater publicly praised Grande’s performance in the upcoming Wicked sequel, describing her work as “out of this world.” The comment reflected the mutual admiration that often defined their relationship, especially as both actors balanced demanding schedules in film, theater, and music.

Grande returned the favor earlier this year when she celebrated Slater’s off-Broadway production Marcel on the Train, a project he co-wrote and starred in. Sharing a message on Instagram Stories after the show’s run concluded, she wrote:

“congratulations on a beautiful run of this very beautiful show,” Grande wrote on her Instagram Stories on March 22, along with a butterfly emoji and two outlines of hearts. “so very proud.”

Industry observers noted throughout the past year that the couple appeared committed to making their relationship work despite increasingly packed calendars. In November, another source told PEOPLE that they were “making it work” and remained “incredibly supportive” of each other’s careers.

Grande herself spoke warmly about Slater during a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, offering a glimpse into the affection she felt for her then-partner.

“He’s always adorable, and he’s so amazing in this film — he’s such an amazing person,” she said. “I’m so happy people are getting to know him. My heart is very happy.”

For now, neither Grande nor Slater has publicly commented on the reported breakup.
