Ariana Grande has achieved another landmark victory in her music career as her newest studio album, Petal, officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The accomplishment marks the seventh number-one album of the 33-year-old superstar’s career, cementing her status alongside the top pantheon of legendary female artists.
Petal launched with an impressive 250,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States, representing Grande’s biggest opening week of the 2020s thus far, as well as her strongest pure album sales week in over a decade. With this latest entry, Grande ties pop icons Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga for the fifth-most No. 1 albums among solo female artists in Billboard history. Every solo studio album in her catalog has reached the top spot, with the sole exception of 2016’s Dangerous Woman, which peaked at No. 2.

The chart milestone comes right on the heels of Grande wrapping the North American leg of her massive Eternal Sunshine Tour. The powerhouse vocalist is now preparing to take her live show across the Atlantic for a high-profile 10-night residency at London’s O2 Arena starting August 15, bringing this record-breaking era directly to her international fans.
