Rising pop star Benson Boone is sharing a hilarious, self-deprecating story from his early touring days involving an unexpected backstage run-in with an unsuspecting fan.

Appearing on the Life Uncut podcast, the 24-year-old “Beautiful Things” singer detailed an awkward moment that occurred roughly two and a half years ago when he was first building his live performance career.

Boone explained that early venue setups lacked private facilities, forcing him to use a communal restroom without realizing it was shared with concertgoers.

“Backstage I didn’t have a bathroom for some reason,” he explained on the podcast. “My bathroom that I had was shared with the audience bathroom. So, like, anyone in the audience could be in the bathroom that I was in, and I didn’t know that.”

Boone went on to explain an inside joke he shared with close friends that turned into a hilarious misunderstanding.

“Usually, you know, you just unzip and let it rip. And you don’t have to, like, take off your pants, right?” he said. “Well, we do a thing where we just fully take off our pants. And we’re standing there with a shirt on but no pants on. So I walk in there, drop the drawers. They are fully at my ankles, and I have started taking the piss. So once you start, you can’t stop or it hurts. Well, you can, but it’s like it’s really uncomfortable.”

While Boone was focused on the urinals, another person walked into the room.

“So, I’m standing there and I’m, you know, kind of in my own world, just like doing my thing, taking a piss, and someone walks in and I didn’t look. I didn’t look over because I assumed it would be like one of my mates, um, and it wasn’t. It was a fan coming to the show and he just stopped and goes, ‘huh,’ and I heard the gasp and that’s when I turned.”

Boone quickly realized the concertgoer recognized him instantly despite the awkward situation.

“It was so awkward. I was I was horrified. Luckily, great guy. He was super cool,” Boone shared. “I ended up pulling up my drawers and shaking his hand, before I washed my hands, by the way.”
