Bijou Phillips is currently hospitalized in Los Angeles and undergoing dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant.
Her representative, Cade Hudson, confirmed the news to Page Six on February 11. Phillips is receiving care at CORE Kidney at UCLA Health. According to her rep, she is in stable condition, but “time is of the essence.”
The 45-year-old model and actress addressed her situation directly on Instagram, urging supporters to consider becoming living donors.
“please read and share. and if you are interested in becoming a living donor, please go to the link in my bio and fill out a brief form,” she wrote. “I am so grateful for your support. ❤️”
Phillips previously received a kidney transplant in 2017 from what she described as a “dear friend.” However, she has faced significant complications since then, including the BK virus, which led to cellular and antibody rejection.
Her health journey stretches back to infancy. Phillips was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent the first three months of her life on dialysis in the NICU. She has lived with kidney disease for most of her life.
According to medical experts, chronic kidney disease can lead to progressive organ failure, often requiring dialysis or transplant for survival. Living donation is frequently encouraged because it can reduce wait times and improve outcomes.
Phillips’ public appeal highlights the urgent nature of transplant needs in the United States, where thousands remain on waiting lists.
Her team has not shared additional details about timing or donor matches, but her call for awareness has already sparked conversation online.
