Channing Tatum is known for keeping his personal life relatively private, but the actor recently got candid about his split from ex-wife Jenna Dewan—and the impact it had on their daughter, Everly.
The actor, 45, is currently promoting his new movie Roofman, where he plays a character separated from his child. In an interview with Variety, he explained how the role resonates with his real-life experiences.
“Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young. We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was … Not to go into all that. It’s in the past. But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time,” he shared.
Channing and Jenna, who married in 2009 after meeting on the set of Step Up, were once considered one of Hollywood’s golden couples. But after nearly a decade together, they announced their separation in 2018. What followed was a lengthy legal battle, particularly over finances tied to Channing’s Magic Mike franchise.
The divorce was officially finalized in 2024. Today, the pair share custody of 12-year-old Everly, who continues to be at the center of their co-parenting efforts.
