Sarah Michelle Gellar is putting the gossip to rest. The actress took to social media to address growing speculation about an alleged rift between her and I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The buzz began after both stars attended the recent premiere of the new I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. Fans noticed the two didn’t pose for any red carpet photos together, which led to whispers that the former scream queens might not be on the best of terms.
Things escalated when Gellar, 48, posted a series of photos from the event on Instagram, including snaps from the after-party. Notably absent? Jennifer Love Hewitt, 46.
Cue the fan theories.
“No pic with J-Love oooo girl the BEEF is real 😂,” one user commented, while another asked, “Girl do you not like Jen? Spill 🤭”
Gellar wasn’t having it and quickly clarified the situation in the comments section: “For everyone asking – I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn’t come to the after party.”
She added, “If you have ever been to one of these it’s crazy. I sadly didn’t get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn’t change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online.”
So, for anyone hoping for a ‘90s-style feud revival, Gellar’s message was clear: no beef here.
The new I Know What You Did Last Summer hits theaters this Friday, July 18.
