Ed Sheeran has officially revealed the new musical talent joining the North American leg of his ‘Loop’ Tour following a complete overhaul of his supporting roster last month.
The touring lineup experienced a total collapse in September after Sheeran’s management removed rapper Macklemore over political statements delivered onstage in New Jersey. In response, all original opening acts—alongside Sheeran’s backing group, Irish folk band Beoga—walked off the bill in solidarity, forcing Sheeran to perform a solo stadium show in Philadelphia without support.
After enlisting Isaac Slade, former frontman of multi-platinum rock band The Fray, for an emergency performance in Atlanta, Sheeran confirmed that Slade will remain as the primary opening act for all remaining U.S. stadium dates.
Slade confirmed his extended commitment via Instagram, listing upcoming appearances at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on October 10, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on October 17, AT&T Stadium in Arlington on October 24, and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on November 7.
“See you out there,” Slade posted to his followers.
(Sheeran’s scheduled October 29 and 30 dates in Hollywood, Florida, at the Hard Rock Live casino venue were structured as standalone solo performances without support acts).
In addition to Slade, rising artist Brooks Rosser—a breakout contestant from Season 24 of American Idol—announced he will open the Indianapolis stadium date.
“my first show since American Idol, and it’s at Lucas Oil Stadium opening for @teddysphotos. I’m beyond excited and grateful. See you Saturday!” Rosser shared via Instagram.
The new bookings stabilized the touring production following a turbulent stretch that included the cancellation of two scheduled stadium shows in Boston. With Slade and Rosser joining the fold, Sheeran continues his world tour across major U.S. markets.
