Francia Raisa is setting the record straight—again.
The How I Met Your Father actress has spoken out about those long-running rumors that she and Selena Gomez are no longer on good terms, years after their much-publicized friendship and the kidney donation that saved Selena’s life.
With Selena recently tying the knot with Benny Blanco, fans couldn’t help but wonder if Francia scored an invite—or if the two stars were still on the outs. Now, an interview recorded just before the wedding has resurfaced, offering some clarity.
Speaking to Magaly Ortiz TV in a Spanish-language interview published on September 25, Francia, 37, was asked directly if she had “reconciled” her friendship with Selena. Her response was calm and classy.
“Oh my God. You know what? I’m not going to talk about that right now. But I do know that she’s getting married and I’m very happy for her,” Francia replied (via BuzzFeed).
She continued, “She has a life and she’s already a billionaire and I’m grateful that I was able to do that for her.”
It was a gracious answer from someone who’s clearly done with the drama.
Francia went on to share some perspective about organ donation and the sense of peace she’s found since giving Selena her kidney. “You’re not going to call and say, ‘What are you doing with my dollar?’ It’s a donation and it’s something beautiful that I was able to do. I’m grateful that I’m alive and able to say that I’ve saved a life,” she explained.
When asked whether she’d been hurt by Selena’s behavior after the donation, Francia chose honesty—but avoided the gossip trap. “Okay, so what you’re asking me about right now are jokes that have been in the media, and there are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything. When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something like that because [Selena] was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors. TMZ called me, I was working. So, what you’re asking me about are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. Maybe one day, we will.”
It’s not the first time Francia’s been asked about their friendship, but her latest remarks show a mix of maturity, gratitude, and restraint—something fans online have praised her for.
Whether she attended Selena’s wedding or not, one thing’s clear: Francia’s done letting other people write her story.
