Gracie Abrams is entering a new creative chapter — and she’s doing it the A24 way.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter will officially make her acting debut in A24’s upcoming film Please, written and directed by Halina Reijn, known for her provocative, genre-pushing storytelling.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Please is described as “a period female drama and will be a continuation of the edgy romance genre that Reijn tackled with Babygirl.” While plot details are still under wraps, the project is already drawing attention for its creative pedigree alone.
Abrams recently spoke candidly about her openness to acting, sharing her enthusiasm for collaborative environments.
“I love a group project. The concept of being on a set is as thrilling as being on tour where everyone who’s there is there for a reason. These kind of creative environments are so incredibly inspiring to me. So yeah, who knows? We’ll see. We’ll see,” she told THR.
The move feels like a natural extension of Abrams’ artistry. Known for her emotionally precise songwriting and intimate performances, stepping into a character-driven film aligns seamlessly with the vulnerability she brings to her music.
Outside of work, Abrams has also been in the spotlight recently after being spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles with boyfriend Paul Mescal on Sunday night (January 11). While neither has publicly commented on their relationship, the pairing continues to intrigue fans.
With Please, Abrams joins a growing list of musicians successfully crossing into film — and with A24 backing her first role, expectations are understandably high. One thing is clear: Gracie Abrams isn’t just expanding her résumé — she’s expanding her creative world.
