Jack Black has officially seen the clip — and his reaction is exactly what fans would hope for.
The moment in question comes from a Vanity Fair lie detector test filmed back in September, where Elle Fanning and her sister Dakota Fanning were asked a series of revealing questions. At one point, Elle was asked about having a crush on Jack Black. Laughing, she didn’t hesitate to confirm it — famously calling the School of Rock star “sex on legs.”
The clip quickly made the rounds online, charming fans with Elle’s honesty and humor. But until recently, Jack himself hadn’t weighed in — until the moment was brought directly to him during press for his new film Anaconda, which he stars in alongside Paul Rudd.
When a journalist played the clip for both actors, Jack’s response was immediate, self-aware, and classically Jack Black.
“Have you ever heard of body dysmorphia? Where when you look at yourself you’re like, ‘oh, I’m so ugly,’ but really you’re like this gorgeous creature,” he began. “I think she’s got like, the opposite of that where she looks at me, which objectively is a goblin gremlin, and she she sees this gorgeous creature.”
“She’s got that weird goblin dysmorphia,” he joked.
The moment didn’t stop there. With mock sincerity, Jack continued, addressing Elle — and her partner — directly.
“Thank you Elle, and to the boyfriend, dude, we got no beef. We’re cool. I didn’t do nothing to deserve this attention.”
Paul Rudd, ever the supportive co-star, chimed in as well, backing Elle’s assessment with a simple but confident endorsement:
“On behalf of Elle Fanning, I get it.”
