In a deeply disappointing turn of events for global pop enthusiasts, KATSEYE has officially pulled out of their highly anticipated appearance at this weekend’s Daisy Chain Fields festival. The unexpected news stems from an ankle injury sustained by group member Megan Skiendiel during rehearsals.
The female-forward benefit festival, organized by pop powerhouse Olivia Rodrigo, is slated for Saturday, August 29, in Irvine, California. Dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls globally, the event donates 100% of its net proceeds to 10 vital non-profit organizations. KATSEYE was originally scheduled to command the stage during an early afternoon slot on the Dandelion stage. Alternative icon Santigold has stepped in to fill the vacancy.
Addressing their passionate global fan base, the group released a heartfelt joint statement across their social channels to break the news and explain the situation.
“We’re so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday,” they wrote. “Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour.”
The message continued, “We know how much our fans were looking forward to seeing us, and it breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there. We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it’s not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community. We’re sending all our love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special. It’s going to be such an amazing day, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on tour.”
Despite KATSEYE’s absence, the festival boasts an extraordinary lineup of powerhouse talent. Mainstage performers include host Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Garbage, and The Breeders.
This update comes during a delicate transitional phase for KATSEYE. Originally formed as a six-piece ensemble, the group is temporarily performing as a four-member unit following the hiatus of Manon Bannerman and the temporary departure of Sophia Laforteza.
