Global pop phenomenon KATSEYE has officially claimed the top spot on the charts. The girl group formed through HYBE x Geffen Records’ Dream Academy hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their dynamic new EP, WILD, for the chart dated August 29, 2026.
The achievement marks the group’s very first No. 1 album, dramatically surpassing the peak of their 2025 debut EP, Beautiful Chaos, which reached No. 4. Furthermore, KATSEYE’s historic debut places them in elite pop company: WILDis only the fourth album by an all-female group to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the 2020s, joining the ranks of global powerhouses TWICE, NewJeans, and BLACKPINK. Prior to this decade’s surge, the last all-woman group to top the chart was Danity Kane with 2008’s Welcome to the Dollhouse.
WILD generated an unprecedented 145,000 equivalent album units in the United States during its opening week, marking the largest single-week unit total for an all-woman group since Billboard began ranking albums by multi-metric units in 2015. Pure album sales accounted for the vast majority of the total, driven by massive collectible CD and vinyl variants, alongside 24,500 streaming equivalent units (SEA). It stands as the highest pure sales week for an all-female group in over three years, since TWICE released Ready To Be: 12th Mini Album.
The milestone comes amidst a busy promotional period for the group, following the premiere of their Britney Spears-inspired music video for focus track “Hootie Frutti” and the theatrical debut of their concert documentary KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS. Achieving chart-topping success while navigating temporary hiatuses for members Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman, KATSEYE’s historic win cements their position as the premier breakout girl group of the decade
