Former teen actor Matt Prokop is facing serious legal trouble following his arrest in Texas late last month.

According to TMZ, Prokop was taken into custody on Christmas Eve in Victoria County and remains jailed without bail. Authorities confirmed that he is facing multiple charges, including alleged possession of child pornography, as well as resisting arrest.

Law enforcement officials stated that Prokop’s arrest is connected to an alleged violation of bond conditions stemming from a prior case. Local outlet Crossroads Today reported that the bond conditions were tied to a May 2024 arrest, though details regarding the specific violation have not been publicly disclosed.

In that earlier case, Prokop was charged with aggravated assault in addition to resisting arrest. The most recent arrest reportedly followed concerns that he failed to comply with the terms set by the court.

Prokop rose to public recognition after appearing in High School Musical 3, released during the peak of Disney Channel’s dominance in pop culture. While his role was relatively small, the franchise’s massive reach brought him significant attention at a young age.

However, his time in the spotlight was later eclipsed by legal issues and allegations that shifted public perception dramatically.

Prokop previously dated Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland. Following the end of their relationship, Hyland sought and was granted a restraining order against him after alleging verbal and physical abuse. The court ordered Prokop to stay away from the actress for a period of three years.

Hyland later spoke publicly about the experience, becoming a vocal advocate for survivors of domestic abuse and shedding light on the lasting impact of abusive relationships. Her decision to share her story was widely praised and helped encourage broader conversations about accountability and safety.

As of now, Prokop remains in the Victoria County jail, and no additional information has been released regarding upcoming court appearances or legal proceedings. Authorities have not commented further on the investigation.
