Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge have reportedly gone their separate ways, marking the end of one of Gen Z Hollywood’s most quietly watched romances.
The “Drivers License” singer and the British actor, both 22, are said to have split a few weeks ago after nearly two years together. According to The Sun, the breakup came as a surprise to many in their inner circle.
“It’s not been the easiest few weeks for them and they decided it’s better to be apart for now,” a source told the outlet.
While neither Rodrigo nor Partridge has publicly addressed the reported split, sources suggest the emotional weight of the breakup has been difficult, particularly for Rodrigo. The Grammy winner was reportedly seen becoming tearful while attending Lily Allen’s recent holiday party in London.
“Olivia was at Lily’s party and emotional when she was talking about it,” the source added. “Her friends have rallied around her but it’s just been pretty rough. It’s really sad right now.”
Representatives for both stars have remained quiet, with Rodrigo’s rep not responding to Page Six’s request for comment and Partridge’s rep declining to comment.
The couple was first linked in October 2023, when they were spotted celebrating Halloween together in London. At the time, reports suggested they met through mutual friends and quickly grew close.
“They became inseparable after messaging one another,” a source told The US Sun early on.
From there, their relationship unfolded at a measured pace. While they didn’t flood social media with declarations, they were frequently photographed together, supporting each other at public events and showing affection without making their romance a spectacle.
Their biggest public moment came in August 2024, when they made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of Partridge’s film Disclaimer. The appearance felt intentional — a confirmation without theatrics.
Still, both stars were clear-eyed about the pressures of dating in the public eye. In a September interview with Esquire UK, Partridge addressed their choice to keep certain aspects of their relationship private.
“I think [it helps], yeah, to not blow it out of proportion or not have to explain it or have someone understand it,” he said. “I just have no doubt that we’re both in a relationship for the right reason, for example. I’m sure that’s something you have to think about when you reach a certain level of success.”
He echoed that sentiment again in an interview with Variety, where he spoke candidly about navigating fame alongside one of pop’s biggest stars.
“I can handle that,” he said when asked about being labeled “Mr. Olivia Rodrigo.” “I’m very happy, and I think she is too, so all is good in our world.”
Rodrigo, meanwhile, has long been open about channeling personal experiences into her music. From SOUR to GUTS, heartbreak and emotional honesty have been central to her artistry, making fans especially attentive to moments like this.
Before Partridge, Rodrigo was romantically linked to DJ and influencer Zack Bia, as well as producer Adam Faze. Partridge has largely kept his dating life private.
For now, both appear focused on their individual paths. Rodrigo continues to dominate pop culture conversations with her music and touring, while Partridge’s acting career continues to gain momentum.
As with many young relationships lived under a global spotlight, their story appears to be one of timing, growth, and the weight of navigating love while growing up in public.
