Pete Davidson is getting ready for his biggest role yet: dad.
The 31-year-old actor and comedian is expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt — and he couldn’t be more thrilled. The couple, who recently made their red carpet debut since announcing the pregnancy, stepped out together at the premiere of Pete’s new movie The Pickup, and Pete was all smiles as he gushed about what’s ahead.
“I mean, it’s the most exciting thing ever. I don’t even really have words,” Pete told Extra. “I’m just so excited about it, and I can’t I just can’t wait for it. And I just… I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m ready for it.”
While fatherhood is a new adventure for him, Pete says the timing feels just right.
“I’m not a parent yet, but I feel like I’m the best I could be now, you know? I’m glad it’s happening now, for sure,” he added.
Elsie, a model and actress, is reportedly doing well — even while navigating the challenges of pregnancy with endometriosis.
“She’s a trouper. She’s a strong woman,” Pete shared. “You know, she has endo[metriosis], so she’s, you know, no stranger to pain. But she’s smilin’ all the time, keeping me smilin’. So, we’re good.”
Pete, who’s known for his raw and often self-deprecating humor, has also been surprisingly sentimental about fatherhood. He shared that he even got some solid words of wisdom from a comedy legend — and his Pickup co-star — Eddie Murphy.
“He actually, his advice was the best. He goes, ‘I have no advice,’” Pete said with a grin. “He goes, ‘Because you can’t really tell anybody how to raise their own kid. But it’s going to change your life and you’re going to love it, and I’ll know you’ll be good at it.’”
Pete added, “So, I mean, that’s a cool thing to get from your idol, you know?”
The comedian has been open in the past about his struggles with mental health and navigating fame. But with a baby on the way, he seems to be entering a new chapter — one filled with purpose, stability, and love.
