The wait is finally over for Phoebe Bridgers fans.
After six years away from releasing a solo album, the four-time Grammy winner has officially ushered in a new era with Lost Weekend, a 16-track record that showcases the singer-songwriter at one of the most compelling points in her career. Released through Dead Oceans, the album arrives alongside a brand-new music video for its focus track, “I Can’t Wait,” and marks Bridgers’ long-awaited return as a solo artist following years spent collaborating on acclaimed projects with some of music’s biggest names.
Lost Weekend follows 2020’s Punisher, an album that cemented Bridgers as one of the defining songwriters of her generation. Since then, her career has only continued to grow, making this new release one of the year’s most anticipated records among indie and alternative music fans.
Rather than simply revisiting the sound that made her a critical favorite, Lost Weekend finds Bridgers expanding her creative world. While her signature introspective songwriting remains at the heart of the album, the new collection explores fresh musical textures and unexpected sonic turns, balancing emotional vulnerability with moments of wit, warmth and experimentation.
The release is accompanied by a visually striking music video for “I Can’t Wait,” directed by Chris Maggio and Pablo Rochat. Set against an offbeat, surreal version of Los Angeles, the video embraces an imaginative, dreamlike aesthetic that perfectly complements the album’s reflective tone. It’s only the second visual from the project, but it immediately adds another layer to the record’s distinctive creative identity.
Ahead of the album’s arrival, Bridgers gave fans an experience that extended well beyond a traditional release schedule.
Around the world, midnight listening events transformed launch day into a shared celebration. Fans gathered in cities across multiple continents, including Southeast Asia, where every session reached capacity. Attendees were treated to advance listens, exclusive physical editions and limited-edition keepsakes, creating an intimate atmosphere that reflected the close relationship Bridgers has cultivated with her audience throughout her career.
The album also received an unusually ambitious preview through a series of immersive planetarium events. Each presentation paired the music with specially created visual experiences, including a custom dome show by acclaimed night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi and a separate laser production by Laser Fantasy. Together, they transformed the first listen into a cinematic experience that emphasized the emotional depth and expansive storytelling woven throughout the record.
Bridgers returns to her solo career following an extraordinary run of collaborations and accolades. Since Punisher, she reunited with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker as boygenius, earning multiple Grammy Awards for the trio’s celebrated debut album. The group won Best Alternative Music Album, while “Not Strong Enough” claimed both Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.
At that same Grammy ceremony, Bridgers added another trophy to her collection, winning Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her feature on SZA’s “Ghost in the Machine.”
