Saoirse Ronan has shared that she was supposed to appear in the wildly anticipated Barbie film!
The 28-year-old Little Women star revealed that there were plans for her to do a cameo on the film. This would have reunited her with her Mary Queen Of Scots co-star Margot Robbie, who plays the titular role of the beloved doll. It would have also been another collaboration between her and director Greta Gerwig. Saoirse and Great worked together previously on Lady Bird and Little Women.
In a new interview, the actress opened up about why the cameo did not happen — as well as what role she was to play in the movie. Speaking to People, she said:
“I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London and they were [filming] there.
There was a whole character I was going to play – another Barbie.”
Plans fell through, unfortunately, due to her filming schedule for The Outrun. Saoirse declared:
“I was gutted I couldn’t do it.”
But hope is not lost! She revealed:
“I have texted Margot and Greta and I’m like, ‘If you’re doing any pick-up [shots], maybe I can just walk through the background?’”
