Selena Gomez opened up about something fans have noticed over the years: her voice. Not her singing voice—her speaking voice.

The 33-year-old singer and actress joined an Instagram Live on Tuesday, December 16, answering fan questions directly. One of the most asked was about why her speaking voice has changed.

“Yeah, I’ve gotten this question a few times, the voice thing,” Selena said, reading one question. “So sometimes when I’m on… never mind,” she added, briefly pausing before continuing.

“There’s no excuse, I don’t really care,” she admitted. “I think my point is, is that sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all. That’s good.”

Selena’s candor reflects her ongoing openness about her health struggles, including her experience with Lupus, a condition that can cause swelling, inflammation, and joint issues.

“I’m glad y’all are being real with me on the Live. I appreciate it though, for real,” she concluded.

Her willingness to address these personal questions on her own terms highlights a transparency that fans have long appreciated, showing that vulnerability and authenticity are as much a part of her public persona as her music and acting.
