Sia is closing one of the lucrative catalog deals of the year, selling a 50 percent stake in her publishing catalog to Swedish entertainment investment firm Pophouse for a reported $180 million.
The mega-deal covers some of pop music’s biggest modern anthems, including global smash hits like “Chandelier,” “Cheap Thrills,” and “Elastic Heart,” alongside her extensive songwriting catalog for other top-tier recording artists.
However, financial details obtained by TMZ reveal that a portion of the massive payout will be tied up in her ongoing divorce proceedings with ex-husband Dan Bernard.
Per legal documentation, the $180 million total is divided based on when the tracks were composed. A $165 million portion represents songs Sia wrote prior to her marriage to Bernard. Bernard has reportedly agreed to formally waive any legal claims to that pre-marital lump sum in exchange for a direct $1 million payout.
The remaining $15 million allocation accounts for music created during their brief marriage. That sum will be held in escrow until the former couple reaches a financial agreement or resolves the matter in court.
The financial negotiations follow a court ruling earlier this year requiring the 50-year-old Australian hitmaker to pay Bernard $42,500 per month in child support. The former couple shares joint custody of their young son, Somersault Wonder Bernard, whom they quietly welcomed in early 2024. Sia and Bernard were married in 2023 before Sia filed for divorce in March 2025 after roughly two years of marriage.
Despite the personal and legal complexities, Sia’s professional legacy continues to reach new heights. The global hitmaker was recently named among the upcoming inductees slated to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2027—a fitting honor for one of pop music’s most prolific creative forces.
