Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris are officially wives.
The One Tree Hill actress and the retired U.S. Women’s National Team soccer star revealed that they secretly tied the knot during an intimate summer ceremony in upstate New York in 2025. Surrounded by lush nature and family warmth, the private nuptials featured Harris’ two young children, daughter Sloane and son Ocean, who played an active role in the festivities.
Opening up to Vogue about their low-key celebration, Harris reflected on the easygoing, child-friendly nature of the day.
“The kids were just running and happy, and we picked flowers from the property and our daughter Sloane was holding them. It was so fun for them, because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids,” Harris shared. The evening concluded on a sweet, grounded note with a family bonfire: “It was so precious, and zero pressure. I will never forget it, and I think wedding days sometimes aren’t like that.”
For Bush, choosing a deeply private ceremony was a deliberate departure from a lifetime spent in the public eye.
“When you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack what’s yours and what’s always sort of been for everyone else,” Bush explained to Vogue. “You’ve been playing in stadiums in front of 60,000 people since you were 15 or 16, and I started playing a character for tens of millions of people when I was 21. It’s such a privilege to be able to perform as an athlete or an actor, but it also comes with certain costs.”
The couple also shared that embracing the official title of “wife” felt like an important milestone after navigating their relationship under public scrutiny. Bush recalled saying to Harris: “You’re not my partner, you know? You’re my wife. And it feels so amazing to say that.”
Both women step into this new chapter following high-profile divorces. Harris was previously married to fellow USWNT star Ali Krieger, with whom she shares her two children. Harris filed for divorce from Krieger in September 2023 after nearly four years of marriage. Meanwhile, Bush was most recently married to businessman Grant Hughes; the pair wed on June 11, 2022, in Oklahoma before separating 13 months later.
