Sydney Sweeney is shutting down the noise — and doing it in the most Sydney Sweeney way possible. The 28-year-old The Housemaid star is no stranger to social media chatter, but when it comes to the persistent speculation about whether she’s had cosmetic work done, she’s officially had enough.
In a new video for Allure, Sydney sat down with her co-star Amanda Seyfried for a candid Q&A, and the very first question pulled no punches: “What is one beauty rumor about yourself that you want to debunk right now?” Sydney didn’t hesitate. “Let’s debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done. I am so scared of needles, you have no idea.”
It was a straightforward but powerful response — especially given how often young women in Hollywood face this kind of scrutiny. Sydney went on to explain that the dramatic before-and-after comparisons circulating online are misleading at best. “You guys, you cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting. Of course I’m going to look different,” she added. “Everybody on social media is insane.”
Amanda chimed in with a playful note, reminding Sydney that if she ever does decide to get something done, she should “call her.” But for now, Sydney is perfectly happy — and she says there’s a reason her face isn’t symmetrical, a detail fans have picked apart over the years. “Also, if I did, you guys, my face would be even,” she said, laughing. She shared that she had once received 19 stitches near her forehead after a wakeboarding accident as a child, which caused “one of her eyelids” to “open a little more than the other.”
Sydney’s response isn’t just about shutting down rumors — it’s about pushing back on the unrealistic beauty expectations placed on women in the public eye. Her willingness to address the topic head-on highlights something the internet often forgets: people grow up, features mature, and professional glam squads can do wonders. It doesn’t mean someone has gone under the knife.
