Sydney Sweeney Doubles Down on Controversial Bathwater Soap Collab

Sydney Sweeney is once again addressing one of the quirkiest — and most talked-about — collaborations of her career: soap infused with her bathwater.

Back in May, the Anyone But You star, now 27, teamed up with Dr. Squatch Soap Co. to create a limited-edition bar called Bathwater Bliss. The gimmick? It contained actual droplets of water Sweeney had bathed in. Naturally, the internet had a field day.

The product sparked intense debate. Was it clever marketing? Gross? Empowering? Sweeney has heard it all — and she’s standing firm in her decision.

“I think it’s important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying,” she told The Wall Street Journal. “Because everything is a conversation with the audience.”

The actress explained that much of the reaction surprised her. “It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting,” she said.

And this isn’t the first time fandoms have toyed with the idea of celebrity bathwater. Sweeney pointed out how fans embraced the concept in another context, recalling: “They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater.” That was in reference to the infamous “Bathwater Candle” inspired by her Euphoria co-star’s role in Saltburn.

If anything, Sweeney seems unfazed by the chatter. For her, it’s less about shock value and more about staying connected to the cultural conversation. The project — whether seen as tongue-in-cheek or just plain odd — is proof that she’s not afraid to blur the line between celebrity branding and internet humor.

And while critics may roll their eyes, Sweeney is embracing the fact that her audience is talking. Love it or hate it, Bathwater Bliss got people’s attention. And in today’s entertainment landscape, that’s half the battle.
