Tara Reid is speaking out about what she describes as a frightening incident that left her hospitalized after someone allegedly slipped something into her drink. The 50-year-old actress — long known for her work in the American Pie franchise and cult classic films — says the experience unfolded unexpectedly while she was staying at a hotel just outside Chicago.
According to Tara, she had checked into her hotel the night before the incident. On Sunday, November 23, she headed downstairs to have a cigarette and order a drink at the bar. What happened afterward, she says, is still hazy.
Tara told TMZ that she stepped outside for a smoke and ended up chatting with a couple of YouTubers she encountered in the lobby. She said one of them joined her outside before she returned to the bar. But when she got back to her drink, she noticed something unusual: a napkin had been placed over the top of her glass.
She says she removed the napkin and took a sip. That’s the last thing she remembers.
Tara says she only had one drink that night, yet she later woke up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. Video obtained by TMZ shows paramedics lifting her onto a stretcher as she was transported to a nearby medical facility. The footage also shows Tara appearing distressed and shouting, “You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress,” according to a source at the scene.
The actress told the outlet that she believes someone drugged her drink while she was outside smoking. The sudden loss of consciousness — after only one drink and under suspicious circumstances — left her shaken.
As of now, no additional details have been publicly confirmed about what substance might have been involved, and Tara has not shared information about whether she filed a police report or whether authorities are investigating the incident.
