The surprise reveal caps off a masterclass in internet sleuthing for Swifties, who spent Tuesday, September 22, decoding a clock on her official website alongside a trail of numerical teasers centered around the digit zero.
Taking to her digital channels to break the news, Swift shared her excitement directly with fans: “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!).” She added, “And it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.”
To mark the release, Swift opened a 24-hour pre-order window on her official web store featuring three physical CD configurations. Alongside the studio original, fans can purchase standalone acoustic and piano renditions of “Patient Zero.” Priced at $3.99 each, every collectible jewel-case CD features double-sided artwork with distinct portraits of Swift and custom disc graphics. Available exclusively to U.S. customers until Wednesday, September 23 at 1:59 p.m. ET (or until supplies last), the physical units are expected to ship on or around October 13.
The arrival of “Patient Zero” comes nearly a year after the launch of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which debuted to massive commercial success in October 2025.
