As we ushered in 2021, many celebs shared their New Year’s Eve celebrations on social media. Tessa Thompson also shared glammed up photos rocking several outfits for the press tour of her latest film, Sylvie’s Love, writing, “All dressed up, nowhere to go.” But, it turns out, her New Year’s Eve was far from uneventful.

The actress guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday (January 7), where she revealed she had a “socially distanced interaction” in quite an unlikely circumstance.

“I drove up a mountain to go to a cabin and I thought, ‘This will be totally safe because I won’t see anybody,'” Tessa told the host. “But I got into a car accident, so I did have a socially distanced interaction.”

“I got hit by a big monster truck on the highway,” she added.

Jimmy clarified if the vehicle that hit her was a real monster truck or just a “huge truck.”

“Let’s just put it this way. It is as monster as a truck could be, driving with a regular commercial license,” Tessa replied. “I got hit, but I’m safe, obviously and actually, the driver was very lovely in the end.”

We’re glad to hear she’s okay. Tessa, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, and is therefore no stranger to car accidents, even went on to say that the collision encounter was “a pleasant one.”

“After this year, there’s such gratitude [for] being alive, it was sort of the sweetest, loveliest accident of all of the ones I’ve had in a way,” she said. “Also, it made total sense it’s the only way to end [2020] would be to get into a car accident.”

Tessa also shared some exciting news – by the time you’re reading this, she has probably landed in Australia and going through quarantine in preparation for filming the highly-anticipated fourth installment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder.

“I leave to Australia on Monday, so in a couple of days,” Tessa shared with the host.

But, apparently, the movie is not the only thing she’s excited about.

“People are going to movies and dinner. It feels like an alternate universe. I’ve sort of forgotten what all those things are like,” she continued. “But yeah, things are under control. So I get there, you get escorted by police to a quarantine facility for 14 days while you’re monitored and then once you’re out it’s sort of things back at somewhat normal.”

Tessa isn’t the only Thor: Love and Thunder cast member to arrive Down Under. In photos published by the Daily Mail, Guardians Of The Galaxy star Chris Pratt, who’s been confirmed to reprise his role as Peter Quill in Thor 4, also arrived in the country last week. Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn have also been spotted in Australia.

Aside from the Guardians of the Galaxy stars joining the ensemble cast, Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the God of Thunder. Christian Bale will play villain Gorr the God Butcher, and Natalie Portman will return to the MCU as Jane Foster.
