On Wednesday (March 25), Clarence House announced that Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son, next in line to the British throne, who also happens to be Prince William and Prince Harry’s dad, has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to Clarence House, the Prince of Wales has been showing “mild symptoms” but is said to be in “good health.” He’s also been “working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks,” the palace adds.

His wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has also been tested, but the results came out negative.

Prince Charles appears to be the second royal to test positive for the virus. Last week, multiple reports came out that Prince Albert of Monaco tested positive for coronavirus as well.

However, in a statement given to the Associated Press by the palace, his state of health is not a source of concern.

“We’re going to get through this, but it’s going to take time,” Prince Albert shared in a statement, per People. He also says he’s “feeling okay. My symptoms are flu-like, but it feels like a pretty mild case. I’ve a slight fever, not really that bad. A little bit of a cough. I’d a runny nose the first few days, that was the first sign. I’ve felt a little stuffed up but that’s it.”

He also has a message for the public: “Follow instructions. Don’t mess around with this. This virus is serious and the propagation is very serious. It can hit anyone of any age group at anytime.”

“Look, we’re going to get through this. It’s going to take awhile. But everyone has to follow the recommendations. Yes, it’s a nuisance and yes, being confined is very limiting — but it’s the only way to stop the spread of this virus.”

In other news…

Apparently, there’s a conspiracy theory going around that celebrities are being paid to say they’ve tested positive for coronavirus.

Idris Elba, who opened up about his diagnosis last week, has something to say about that.

“I think the debate about rich and poor and who’s getting it and who’s not, I think, is not a healthy debate,” Idris told his followers on Instagram Live. “It’s like, I got a test but I also got COVID. Does that make me preferential? I don’t understand that.”

“It shouldn’t be about whether rich or poor gets it,” he added. “I think that the negativity around test-shaming is counterproductive. I don’t see what people get out of that. And also this idea that someone like myself is gonna be paid to say I’ve got coronavirus, that’s absolute bulls–t. Such stupidness.”

“People wanna spread that as if it’s news. That’s stupid,” he continued. “It’s the quickest way to get people sick because there’s no benefit to me and Sabrina sitting here saying we’ve got it or we ain’t got it. I don’t even understand the logic of that.”

“I’m just a human being and I just happen to be in the public eye. So I want people to understand that this is very real,” Idris explained. “I don’t feel like I’m privileged because I got a test because I actually contracted it.”

One person who voiced her confusion over conflicting coronavirus testimonies – people saying they’ve tested positive yet do not have any symptoms – is Cardi B.

“People might take what I say and run with it. I wanna let these celebrities know the confusion that the general public has…if a celebrity is saying I don’t have no symptoms…but I went and got tested and I got positive, that causes confusion,” she explained in a video posted on Instagram. “That makes people be like ‘Wait a minute, I went out…I might just have it. I’m scared.'”

She also pointed out the possible risks at how treatment for COVID-19 is being handled, given the real-life situation of a lot of people.

“If you’re positive for the coronavirus but you don’t have a crazy fever but you have a cold, and you’re sending people home. Where do you think you’re sending people home to? Not everyone has the luxury to go to a f—ing bedroom and to a big ass house and just stay away from people,” she says.

“A lot of people live in small-ass apartments with multiple people. If you’re sending me home and I have the coronaf—ingvirus I’m most likely going to give it to my spouse, my kids, anybody that’s around me.”

Cardi is certain about one thing though: “The coronavirus is very much real.”
