OC fan favorite pair and former off-screen couple Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson have publicly reunited for the first time since the show ended in 2007. Adam, who played Seth Cohen, joined his former OC co-stars Rachel and Melinda Clark on the latest episode of their OC rewatch podcast Welcome To The OC, Bitches!
Adam, Rachel, and Melinda starred on The OC throughout its four-season run from 2003 – 2007. Adam and Rachel were together during the course of the show, considered among the cutest Young Hollywood couples. And their characters, Seth and Summer, were fan favorites individually and as a couple as well.
Adam was definitely the guest of every OC fan’s dreams. And the podcast episode did not disappoint. From seeing Rachel and Adam on screen (virtually) together to hearing them touch on many topics, it was a blast to see Seth and Summer reunite after almost 15 years.
The nostalgic conversation between the exes and Melinda was one for the books. At one point was a very sweet exchange between Rachel and Adam, with Rachel opening up about something she’s been wanting to tell Adam for a long time:
“You taught me how to act well. You made it so comfortable to just go for it and not be afraid, and everything you did and working with you really made me have the confidence to kind of do whatever I wanted and go for it.
I want to say thank you, because it just brings that all up. I was like, ‘Dude, I was never better than when I was acting with you.’”
And Adam’s simple and heartfelt reply:
“What a lovely thing to say. Hey, it was my pleasure and it was such a joy.”
Awwwww.
Adam’s appearance on the podcast has been something that fans have long been hoping for. He came on last Tuesday for an epic reunion for the ages. And the best part? It’s a two-parter! The podcast reunion between the OC trio continues next week! We can’t wait!
Having Adam on the podcast has definitely been at the top of every OC fan’s wishlist — and Rachel knew it would be her biggest score to get her ex to appear. She opened up about how it all came to be, telling PEOPLE:
“I was like, there’s no way he’s going to want to talk about it, there’s no way he’s going to do it.”
She went on to explain that the heartwarming reunion blossomed from a heartbreaking event:
“A dog that I had when we were on The OC recently passed away, so I sent him a text message and I was like, ‘Thurman died. You have to say yes.’
I basically bribed him with a dead dog.”
Her ex sweetly obliged, and then came the process of choosing which episode to re-watch and discuss with him:
“Originally they (the producers) were like, ‘Maybe he can come on for the episode where you guys lose your virginity.’ And I was like, ‘Eh, maybe a little awkward to talk about!’ So we didn’t do that, but he did say yes to a very fun episode and we could not have been more happy and excited to have him on and to catch up.”
Of revisiting that time with Adam, which was certainly a significant part of both their lives professionally and personally, Rachel sweetly said:
“It definitely brought up some emotion of longing for that youth and that time and everything we went through, and working on such a special show with amazing people.
There’s a lot of gratitude that comes with it.”
And we’ve got a lot of gratitude for this incredible OC reunion. Counting the days til Part Two!
