Randall Park is speaking out about the success of the Barbie movie.

The 49-year-old actor and director shared his thoughts on Greta Gerwig’s billion dollar-plus box office juggernaut, and how he is worried that Hollywood may be getting the wrong takeaway from the movie’s success.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, he shared his worries about how the “industry is taking the wrong lessons” from the phenomenal performance of the film.

He said:

“I feel like, just in general, this industry is taking the wrong lessons.”

Randall went on, declaring:

“For example, Barbie is this massive blockbuster, and the ides is: Make more movies about toys!

No. Make more movies by and about women!”

His statements come as Mattel execs confirm over a dozen film projects are on the way based on their toys. The CEO said about Barbie getting a potential sequel:

“At the outset, we’re not saying, ‘Okay, let’s think already about movie two and three.’ Let’s get the first one right and make that a success. And if you do that, opportunities open up very quickly, once you establish the first movie as a successful representation of a franchise on the big screen. Successful movies lend themselves to more movies. Our ambition is to create film franchises.”
