Rege-Jean Page is currently one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men, thanks in large part to his breakout role on Netflix’s Bridgerton, his magnetic talent, not to mention his smoldering good looks which has caused many hearts to flutter.

With his star soaring high in Tinseltown and audiences craving for more, it’s no wonder he’s been in the news lately. Everyone wants more Rege-Jean, and they want to know more about the dashing actor.

Earlier in the week came the reveal that he actually once auditioned for a role on the show Krypton. Rege-Jean auditioned for the role of Superman’s grandfather — but, unfortunately, he was said that he didn’t get the role because of his skin color!

In the report that made the rounds, it was suggested that Geoff Johns, who was then the DC Films chairman, rejected the idea of Superman’s grandfather being played by Rege-Jean. The reason? He apparently “said Superman could not have a Black grandfather” AND believed “fans expected the character to look like a young Henry Cavill.”

After the bombshell revelation spread on the internet, Rege-Jean has taken to social media to address it. Going on Twitter, he seemingly opened up about how the report made him feel.

Here’s what Rege-Jean said:

“Hearing about these conversations hurts no less now than it did back then. The clarifications almost hurt more tbh.

Still just doing my thing.

Still we do the work.

We still fly.”

Cameron Cuffe, who did get the role of Seg-El, also took to social media to quote Rege-Jean’s tweet, writing:

“Rege is an inspiration to me and thousands of other artists. No one should feel okay benefiting from individuals or institutions that treat their fellow humans so unjustly.

Change must happen.”
