Ruby Rose won’t be playing Kate Kane/Batwoman in season 2.

Just days after The CW announced Batwoman’s sophomore season, the actress made a surprise announcement that left fans shook.

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season,” Ruby said in a statement. “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles. I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made season one a success – I am truly grateful.”

The exact reason why Ruby is leaving the show remains unclear, and some fans are wondering if it had to do with her health – back in September, she revealed she underwent emergency surgery after an injury left her almost paralyzed. However, a source told Variety say it “had nothing to do with her health or injury.”

As for what it means for next season, however, the show will continue – with a new lead.

“Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best,” Warner Bros. TV, the CW and Berlanti Productions in a joint statement. “The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman’s second season and long-term future, and we — along with the show’s talented creative team — look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months.”

The CW has announced that the usual fall premieres of shows like The Flash, Black Lightning, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, Legacies, Batwoman and Charmed have been pushed back to January 2021.

Meanwhile, a reality star is also saying goodbye to her show as she starts a new chapter in her life.

Kristin Cavallari announced that her reality show, Very Cavallari, is ending after three seasons.

“As I start this new chapter in my life, I have decided not to continue with ‘Very Cavallari.’ I’ve absolutely loved my time filming and am so grateful to E! Entertainment for making this journey possible,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “To the fans: I can’t thank you enough for all your support and for keeping up with me all of these years. I love you guys 💛.”

In late April, Kristin Cavallari announced that she and husband Jay Cutler were getting a divorce after being together for nearly 10 years. Over the years, they’ve shared some of their marriage struggles on camera.
