It seems like it was only yesterday that we first saw a glimpse of Rupert Grint’s adorable, little ginger-haired Ron Weasley alongside Dan Radcliffe’s Harry Potter and Emma Watson’s Hermione Granger on the movie Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone. But now, 8 films and almost a decade since the last movie was released in theaters, the film’s young leads are now all grown up — and Rupert has taken on a new role: Fatherhood!

Yes, the 32-year-old actor is now a dad! He and his girlfriend Georgia Groome are parents to a newborn daughter, which they cutely named Wednesday.

And in a rare interview, Rupert is opening up about the joys of fatherhood.

He spoke about the overwhelming emotions that he’s been feeling since becoming a dad. Speaking with comicbook.com, Rupert shared:

“It was something I never really had much of an idea of, that kind of love.

It’s a very different love.”

Awww.

Rupert also revealed that becoming a father himself helped him to be able to “get into the headspace” of the characters on his show, Servant. He said:

“The grief, what it means to lose a child, is kind of unimaginable and kind of hones in on that you would do anything to get your child back. So yeah, [being a father myself has] definitely helped in some ways.”

In April, news first broke that Rupert was expecting his first child with Georgia. People confirmed in May that the couple had welcomed their daughter into the world. A representative then said in a statement:

“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would plea ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”

Rupert joined Instagram in November, and he made his debut in the most adorable way — by sharing a photo of his baby girl for the first time!

He posted a photo of himself holding Wednesday, along with this cute caption:

“Hey Instagram… only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.”

We say it’s worth the wait, Rupert! And his Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton, sho played Draco Malfoy, agrees. Tom posted in the comments of Rupert’s post:

“Welcome, Weasley, it’s about time. Love to Wednesday xx.”

So cute!
