Russell Brand is currently facing a series of very grave allegations that have come to light. The 48-year-old comedian has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by four different women. These disturbing allegations span a period of seven years, from 2006 to 2013.
These accusations have emerged as a result of a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatch. According to the women making these allegations, the sexual assaults occurred while Russell Brand was working as a presenter for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4. They further claim that these incidents continued when he transitioned into an acting career in Hollywood.
One of the women alleged that Russell Brand raped her during their second meeting at his home in Los Angeles on July 1, 2012, after they had engaged in consensual sex a month prior. It’s reported that medical records indicate she sought treatment at a rape crisis center on the same day. She claimed that, hours after the alleged incident, she texted Russell, saying, “When a girl says NO, it means no.” Russell allegedly responded with, “Very sorry.” It’s alleged that he did not use protection during the incident.
Another woman shared her account, stating that she met Russell when she was just 16, and he was 31, while shopping in London in 2006. She claims that she informed him of her age, but he disregarded it. Their relationship continued for three months, during which time, she alleges that he initially displayed charm but later became controlling and abusive. She even alleges that he once forced “his penis down her throat, making her choke.”
A third woman stated that Russell threatened her with legal action if she disclosed the sexual assault that she alleges occurred while they were working together in Los Angeles in 2013.
The fourth woman to come forward is Russell’s ex-girlfriend, Jordan Martin, who has alleged sexual assault, physical abuse, and emotional abuse during their relationship.
Before the exposé became public, Russell Brand released a video where he denied “very, very serious criminal allegations” that were going to be made against him.
