Ryan Philippe and Reese Witherspoon recently reunited… and the Cruel Intentions co-stars and former husband and wife’s intentions were anything but cruel!
Ryan and Reese got together on Saturday to celebrate the 18th birthday of their son Deacon. The two took to social media to share sweet photos of the happy occasion as well as pen touching messages for their boy.
Ryan wrote on his Instagram page:
“Happy 18th birthday to our gorgeous, smart, talented, and caring son. You are a true light in this world and are so loved by all who know you.
We are lucky to be your mom and dad. Love you, bub.”
He wrote a super adorable shoutout to his former wife at the end:
“I’d say we did pretty good @reesewitherspoon.”
Deacon commented on his dad’s post, sweetly saying:
“Thanks dad!! I love you.”
Reese’s heartfelt message for her son read:
“How did this happen?!! @deaconphillippe is 18?!! One day he was trading Pokemon cards, singing Bruno Mars songs, and playing American Ninja Warrior in the backyard. The next day, he is taller than me, cooking the family steaks on the grill and making his own music with his best friends.
My heart is bursting with pride about the young man he is becoming. Happy 18th Birthday Deacon! I love you to the moon around the sun and all the stars.”
Deacon likewise had a sweet reply for his mom, commenting:
“Love you mom!!”
Ryan and Reese met in 1997 at Reese’s 21st birthday party. They were living together for over a year by the time they shot the 1999 film, Cruel Intentions. They share two children: Deacon and a daughter, Ava.
They separated in 2006 after seven years of marriage, but remain linked to this day thanks to their two kids.
